Fall 2009 Rush

Auburn University's formal rush is set for August 25th through August 28th from 7-10pm each evening. Fraternity Orientation will be August 24th at 7pm. If you are interested in rushing Sigma Pi during the upcoming semesters, feel free to contact our rush chairman, Steven Naylor. If you have any questions or if we can help you with anything, please call Steven at (678) 595-0544, or you may contact him via email at rush@ausigmapi.org

Perspective rushees are invited to stop by for dinner at 5:30pm during the school days prior to rush. You are also invited to come by the house from 7:00pm to 10:00pm each day of formal rush. Food will be served each day and various activities will be taking place at the chapter house. At this time you can meet the brothers, take a tour of the house, and see what Sigma Pi has to offer.

Why Join Sigma Pi?
If you are looking to take full advantage of your time at Auburn University, then you may want to consider joining the Greek system, especially Sigma Pi. Joining a fraternity is a very big decision that will affect someone for the rest of their lives. Becoming a part of Sigma Pi automatically gives you the distinction of being different and gives you the chance to take advantage of the many benefits that Sigma Pi offers.

Academics
One of the primary purposes of the fraternity system is to encourage and develop high scholastic achievement among its members. The average GPA of fraternity men has long been better than that of non-Greek men at Auburn University. Sigma Pi has GPA requirements that encourage members to get good grades so that they can stay in the fraternity. There are brothers that are more than willing to help a fellow brother with a class that they have already taken. This is an advantage that is unique to the Greek system.

Leadership
Membership in Sigma Pi offers students many opportunities to develop their leadership potential. Everyone in the fraternity is a leader, whether you’re an officer, on a committee, or just a participant. You will learn by doing. You can learn how to manage a budget, run effective meetings, speak in public, and motivate others. We are essentially a self-governed community. Brothers have the opportunity to take on the responsibilities of running the chapter by chairing a number of committees or holding major offices.

Philanthropy
The concerns of a Greek man extend far beyond the confines of campus life. Community service and philanthropic activities are integral components of Sigma Pi at Auburn University. Our fraternity sponsors a multitude of activities each year to earn money and donate time to individual philanthropies. The spirit of reaching out to help others in the community unites us and helps build moral character through the realization of the needs of people less fortunate.

Brotherhood
Brotherhood is the foundation of the fraternity experience. Every man contributes to this aspect. Brotherhood combines the concept of individualism within the framework of mutual cooperation. As a brother of Sigma Pi, you will form friendships unlike any found in other organizations. Brotherhood is not conformity, as no fraternity is made up of members who are exactly alike. By choosing to become a member of this fraternity, you will meet brothers who will grow to become your closest friends.

Athletics
Sigma Pi is actively involved in the Intramural Sports at Auburn University. Fraternities have such strong participation in the intramural program at Auburn that the university has set up fraternity leagues so that chapters are able to compete against each other in the spirit of Greek fun. Auburn University offers competition in a large number of sports including flag football, soccer, softball, and basketball.

Alumni Relations
Your Sigma Pi experience does not stop when you leave college. You will find many business connections for internships and job placement through alumni. Sigma Pi alumni have played a crucial role with placing our new graduates in the job field in the past years. You will also meet Sigma Pi around the country wherever you may go.

Social
We are a social organization, so one of our greatest benefits is our social calendar. Being a part of Sigma Pi gives you a chance to meet many new people, as many of our social events are with other sororities and fraternities. After meeting new people, Auburn's campus won't seem quite so big. We also host a large number of parties including date parties, formals, and theme parties.
