Delta Leadership
The administrative and executive functions of the
chapter are delegated to six officers known collectively as the
Executive Council. Their titles are Sage, Second Counselor, Third
Counselor, Fourth Counselor, First Counselor, and Herald. The Executive
Council works to insure the smooth and effective operation of the
chapter. The Council's duties are summarized as follows: to establish
policies, to plan activities, to solve problems, to govern the chapter,
and to enforce the rules and regulations the chapter, the Grand
Chapter, and the university have adopted. Each of the six officers has
duties of his own. In addition to the Executive Committee, duties are
also delegated to committees within the chapter.
Sage - DJ Carswell
The sage, commonly referred to as the president,
is the leader and chief executive officer of the chapter. He presides
at all chapter meetings and decides on all points of order. He is also
responsible for the general management and conduct of the affairs of
the chapter. The Sage must be both an example and an inspiration to the
rest of his brothers.
Second
Counselor - Cory Skipper
The Second Counselor serves as the vice president
and as chaplain. He assists the Sage in all chapter matters, and in the
absence of the Sage, performs the duties of the presiding officer. One
of the most effective ways the Second Counselor serves the chapter is
to coordinate the work of the various committees.
Third Counselor - Adam Hardy
One of the most important positions in the chapter
is the Third Counselor who acts as the treasurer. He sees to it that
the financial obligations of the chapter are met, the proper financial
records are kept, and the financial affairs of the chapter are kept in
good order.
Fourth
Counselor - Andrew Kneeburg
The success of the chapter's business and paper
work depends upon the secretary, or Fourth Counselor. The efficiency
and organization of the Fourth Counselor affects nearly every activity
of the chapter. The Fourth Counselor records the minutes of every
chapter meeting, keeps an accurate chapter roster, records attendance
at every meeting, and files all reports and records of the chapter.
First
Counselor - David Thomas
The First Counselor serves as the alumni secretary
of the chapter. The role of alumni secretary is very important, as it
provides for good alumni relations which are vital to the well-being of
the chapter. He maintains a file and up-to-date mailing list of all
alumni and is in charge of publishing the alumni newsletter.
Herald - Andrew Stevens
The Herald is the chapter historian. It is his
duty to keep the membership records current as each new brother is
initiated. He maintains the chapter roster and history and is in charge
of keeping an up-to-date scrapbook for the chapter.
Committee Chairmen
The committee system is often seen as the backbone
of the fraternity. The chapter's proper and efficient functioning is
heavily dependent upon the operation of the committees. Committees
allow each brother to contribute to the chapter.
